Job Summary:
At Commercial Bank, data is a key driver in strategic decision making; the incumbent is required to have a thorough understanding of data analytics, data management principles and have ability to help the bank derive maximum value from the data available. Previous experience with data science and advanced analytical techniques, as well as AI and Machine Learning in a banking context would be a major success factor. The skills needed for the Data Scientist include technical knowledge and problem-solving and focus on delivery. The prospective candidate is expected to help take the bank’s data science capabilities to the next level; building on a good foundation but accelerating both the capability development and the exploitation of benefits.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the discovery processes with stakeholders to identify business requirements and expected outcomes by modelling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques.
- Apply data mining techniques, perform statistical analysis, and build high quality prediction systems relevant to the business and its operations,
- Expected to discover information hidden in the vast amount and variety of big data sources and perform statistical analysis to produce business insights e.g. market trends, customer profile and segments, association analysis, predicted behaviour) that will enable the company to make better business decisions.
- Lead the utilization of various machine learning-based tools and processes such as regression, clustering principle component analysis and others within the Commercial Department.
- Model and frame business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact critical business decisions and processes.
- Identify what data is available and relevant, including internal and external data sources, leveraging new data collection processes such as smart meters and geo location information or social media.
Make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices.
- Develop innovative and effective approaches to solve analytical problems and communicates the results and methodologies
- Validate findings/test hypotheses using an experimental and iterative approach e.g. scenario modelling Identify/create the appropriate algorithm to discover patterns
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent professional qualification
Minimum Experience:
- Python or R capability
- Min. 2 years of experience of modelling complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques, integrating and preparing large, varied massive datasets, architecting specialized database and computing environments and communicating the results to the business
- Expertise in reports and analysis of complex customer and/or commercial data.
- Specialist skills in research methodologies, consumer behavior, and market research activities.
- Specialist skills with Microsoft Excel.
- Specialist skills in different analytical and visualization systems and tools such as SSRS, SQL, Power BI, Cognos, etc.
- Skills in data extraction, transformation and visual analytics.

Develop and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms to solve complex business problems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide analytical solutions that meet business needs. Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate results. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through presentations and reports. Continuously monitor and improve model performance through regular updates and refinements. Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies to apply best practices in your work. Build and maintain data pipelines to ensure the availability of data for analysis and reporting. Work with data engineering teams to ensure data is collected and stored effectively for analysis. Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role. Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages. Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases. Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras). Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, seaborn) for communicating results. Understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, and experience applying them to real-world scenarios. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Arabic. Preferable Certificates:
