Job Description
The Training Instructor – Avionics, is responsible for preparing and delivering both
theoretical and practical training, relating to Typhoon Type, specialist and
support training, and assessing trainee performance and evaluating the efficacy
of the training system. Formal Training will occur within the Qatar Typhoon
Training Facility (QTTF) augmented by mentored training within the operational
environment. The role also includes the duties of the Squadron Training Cell to
develop, maintain and manage the competencies of Squadron personnel.
Key aspects of the Training Instructor – Avionics role includes:
– Preparation and delivery of the allocated course in
accordance with the authorised Syllabus, and associated materials, in line the
training schedule within the Training Management Information System (TMIS).
Invigilating and marking examinations and assessments
and marking assessments.
The continuous assessment, evaluation and reporting
of trainee progress.
Developing, maintaining and
managing the competencies of Squadron personnel; these specific roles are
detailed in the following Job Specifications:
– Ensuring that trainees use appropriate Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) and observe safety precautions and procedures during
practical training.
– Ensuring that equipment pre-use checks are carried
out and associated approved data is available before training commences.
– Ensuring training is conducted safely and that
training areas, including training aids, classrooms, workshops and ground
instructional / operational aircraft are left in a safe condition.
Maintaining discipline of your allocated trainees
at all times; this includes break times and during changeover between training
areas.
Reporting trainee absences to your Training Instructor
Supervisor and/or Head of Maintenance.
Training Instructors are expected to fulfil

Understands the Regulatory Framework and its
applicability to the training system, processes and activities.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of delivering aircraft
Type training and having operational knowledge and understanding of
instructional delivery and mentoring activities, and the associated business’
key performance metrics.
Undertakes a
range of work requiring a professional understanding of Training structures and
processes.
Experienced
generalist applies understanding within and across a professional area of
knowledge, including how solutions are developed and implemented.

Formal training occurs at the Qatar Typhoon Training Facility (QTTF), supplemented by mentored training within the operational environment. Additionally, the role includes supervising and allocating Training Instructors to instructional and mentoring duties, ensuring all courses are properly staffed and resourced.
Key responsibilities include:- Acting as the subject matter and curriculum lead for your maintenance technician area, including supervision, coaching, and mentoring of Training Instructors.
- Supervising Training Instructors and participating in the preparation and delivery of courses according to the approved Syllabus and materials, aligned with the training schedule within the Training Management Information System (TMIS).
- Overseeing invigilation and marking of examinations and assessments by nominated personnel.
- Monitoring and reporting trainee progress through continuous assessment and evaluation.
- Coordinating aircraft and equipment required for courses.
- Ensuring trainees use appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety procedures during practical training.
- Ensuring equipment pre-use checks are completed, and associated data is available before training.
- Maintaining safety standards in training areas, including classrooms, workshops, training aids, and operational aircraft.
- Maintaining discipline among trainees at all times, including during breaks and area changes.
- Reporting trainee absences to the Training Manager.
- Verifying the quality and accuracy of instruction and assessment of Training Instructors.
- Developing and maintaining the competencies of yourself and Training Instructors.
- Maintaining close liaison with QTTF personnel to uphold processes related to Planning, Standards, Compliance, and Exam Management.
- Actively engaging in continuous improvement by identifying and reporting deficiencies and proposing improvements to the training system and materials.
- Performing any additional duties as assigned by the Training Manager.
- Possess a Training Qualification at Level 3 or above (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education & Training, Level 4 Certificate, Level 5 Diploma).
- Hold a recognized qualification to NVQ3/ONC level or equivalent in a relevant aircraft maintenance discipline.
- Have recent in-depth experience (minimum 5 years) supporting Maintenance & Support environments, including direct experience supporting training activities.
