Role Purpose:
The Head of Strategy & Planning develops QM’s strategic framework, strategic plan and the detailed annual operating plans, on behalf of the CEO and within the direction set by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. They facilitate the execution of strategy, ensuring that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve the desired results.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Define the strategic framework for QM and lead the implementation of consistent practices for strategy development across the organization, including the development of templates, standard terminology and definitions.
- Lead the development of the QM strategic plan, ensure that the vision of the Chairperson and strategic intent of the Board of Trustees is translated into long-, medium
- and short-term measurable, achievable, and impactful outcomes.
- Guide all departments, museums and entities in devising their annual operating plans and ensure that these align cohesively within QM’s strategic framework and overarching plan.
- Facilitate the execution of strategy, working closely with the Head of PPM to monitor strategy implementation, progress and risks, and ensure that strategic actions are completed at various levels to achieve the necessary results; and revise the strategic plans accordingly.
- Ensure the appropriate metrics are in place to measure performance and progress towards the strategic goals, working closely with the PMO section to do so.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure that the organizational strategy is communicated and easily understood by all internal stakeholders.
- Identify organizational priorities, enablers to strategic delivery, and develop organisational values.
- Support the Compliance and Quality Assurance section in identifying and creating processes and conditions for interdependence, collaboration and execution of the strategic plan.
- Develop research and analytics, and ensure the critical analysis of this, to guide strategic decision making in order to support departments and museums delivery of outcomes.
- Develop strategic communications and content for internal and external stakeholders, including developing papers for the Board of Trustees as required.
- The Head of Strategy and Planning is responsible for planning and implementing the work of the section and is accountable for the delivery of its objectives to the Director of Strategy & Quality Assurance.
- Motivate the team and ensures that employees are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction, training and equipment to enable them to perform their duties optimally.
- Establish clear direction, prioritize tasks, assign and responsibility; monitor individual performance, and take prompt action where necessary.
- Manage the overall budgetary requirements of the section.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of economics, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of strategic thinking, planning and leadership.
- Excellent language skills in English and preferably Arabic too.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office - in particular PowerPoint, Project and Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field of Social Sciences including Business Administration and Management, Strategy, Economics.
- Masters preferred in Economics or Business Administration/Management
- A minimum of 7 years relevant experience
