About The Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for establishing the IT Infrastructure technology architecture framework in alignment with Strategic goals of the organization.
  • Responsible for research on emerging industry trends and technologies and to recommend proposals for their application at MATAR to achieve tangible benefits, improve passenger experience and safeguard company's information assets and IT infrastructure.
  • Responsible for identifying all the risks related to IT infrastructure and services and work out a mitigation plan for the same.
  • Ensure adequate controls related to IT infrastructure established, deployed and managed in a secure environment.
  • Provide technical expertise and act as a mentor to technical resources based on assigned work program for the execution of adoption plans in a time-bound manner.
  • Lead the governance of systems architectures across assigned business units, ensuring consistency with

specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers/suppliers.

  • Review functional and non-functional requirements and make recommendations in-line with established frameworks.
  • Independently evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major solution design options for both 3rd party package implementations and in-house bespoke developments.
  • Responsible to build scalable, resilient and sustainable solutions to address business requirements.
  • Lead the solution design methods and tools, including the technical aspects of configuration management methods, system security requirements, the operational and maintenance aspects of solutions under development.
  • Promote the solution design and enterprise architecture disciplines in collaboration with the wider IT community including QR Group and vendors.
  • Co-ordinates design activity, within a programme of change, acting as custodian of the solution designs for the entire technology stack.
  • Ensure all new development being carried out by HIA expansion projects and other QR Group projects are in-line with MATAR-IT infrastructure standards.
  • Responsible for the technical integrity of solution designs and ensure that the common technical elements are recognized to avoid duplication of work.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of reported incidents by utilising performance monitoring tools and assess the required changes in framework/infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all IT Infrastructure technology architecture comply to the established IT standards and processes in line with industry standards such as ITIL, ISO 2000, ISO 27001.
  • Conduct proactive performance and fine tuning of Production environment for early detection and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct technology research and work with relevant teams to ensure existing IT services are improved including automation, employing industry best practices, tools and frameworks that are scalable and adaptable to current business requirements.
  • Provide inputs during the preparation of annual budget allocation for IT infrastructure services.
  • Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications

About you:

SAN and NAS Storage

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent without prior experience
  • Relevant technology certifications such as CCIE, CISSP, MCSE, Azure Solution Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Experience in architecture design, implement and managing IT infrastructure in a medium to large enterprise environment.
  • Experience in one or more relevant architecture domain:
    • Campus and Datacenter network
    • Network Security
    • Windows Platform
    • Linux Platform
    • Storage
    • Database technologies
    • Cloud Infrastructure
    • Operational Technology (OT)/ Internet of Things (loT)
  • In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas
    • Campus Network and Wide Area Networking technologies
    • Network security standards, procedures and guidelines for multiple platforms and diverse systems environments
    • Operating systems (Linux/ Windows) and Hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V, RHEV) and associated platform (Application, Middleware and Database)

The Information Systems (IS) team is responsible for all IT operations at Canonical, including the infrastructure for building, packaging and distributing Ubuntu globally. As the IS architect, you will own the design of hardware and software implementation from PCI lanes to CDN and everything in between. Our goal is to be a reference operation, using the latest capabilities in Ubuntu and open source more generally, with the most modern operating principles. Your choices will impact the Ubuntu user experience for millions of users, and drive how Canonical's engineers engage with compute and network resources in a devops setting.

As the IS Architect, you'll be in a unique position to improve Canonical products and the open-source technologies they're based on. You do this by leading System Reliability Engineers (SRE) and Data Center Engineers (DCE) to embrace best practices, and make informed decisions on technology choices in all aspects of cloud infrastructure and services. You will coach the IS team on automation, reliability, operational/technical scalability, network infrastructure and security.

This is a home based position, with twice-annual travel to company events totaling around 4 weeks per year.

Location: This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region

The role entails

  • Define, get buy-in and implement the holistic vision of a world class internal cloud
  • Setup, maintain and update the technical design roadmap and guidelines for the SREs within IS, with the aim of improving reliability, resilience, operational scalability, and technical scalability
  • Collaborate with, and provide the cloud-ops software development teams with input for roadmap, requirements and prioritization to build a world-class, highly standardized and automated operation
  • Provide the IS management with input and advice with regards to technology, reliability, resilience and business cases
  • Lead technical choices to implement solutions as self-service products, ensuring scalable operation
  • Collaborate with product security as well as operations security to set best practice and mitigate new threats in a timely manner
  • Automate operations for reuse across the world's largest companies, taking into consideration the complexities of distributed systems
  • Collaborate with development teams to design service architecture, documentation, playbooks, policies and operational procedures
  • Analyze incidents and events, and establish what the reason behind the reasons are, and what structural improvements can be made to minimize the chance of them reoccurring

**About the role**

Responsible for IT solution architecture design, that meets the business requirements. Activities involve creating solution architecture blueprints for the assigned system, work program prioritization, define standards for design and development, review requirements, including Non-functional requirements, solution review and risk management across projects/programs, to ensure timely delivery with quality and within budget.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Responsible to design innovative and practical end-to-end technical solution of a system, in line with the business strategy and objectives of the LOB
- Collaborate with Solution Architects from other LOBs to identify synergies in solutions and to adopt and standardize common tools and technologies across organization
- Contribute to the development of architecture governance structures, methodologies and compliance activities of the organization
- Responsible to deliver artefacts, including Solution Architecture. Contribute and review Functional and Non-functional requirements, Technical Architecture, Interface specifications and high-level design documents.

The Role

Requirements

If you are.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or from technical university.

- Good knowledge of the company offerings, strategic initiatives, current trends, partner and competitor products and strategies within the assigned solution set.
