Wood is recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer to join its Projects team focusing on delivering across EPC, PMC, FEED, Pre-FEED, Concept and Feasibility scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.
Position is based in Qatar for a long term assignment.

This includes piping layout development, material selection, stress analysis coordination, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements. Typical responsibilities
- Produces and reviews piping deliverables with little input or guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue. Such deliverables may include but are not limited to the following:
- Piping design basis, piping material specifications, piping line list, interface schedule, valve list, special items list, support schedule, wall thickness calculations, sizing calculations, stress analysis report, etc.
- Preparation and development of enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation relating to piping materials.
- Provide direction and guidance to designers in production of the 3D model and piping drawings such as plot plans, line shoots, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, tie-in details, etc.
- Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for piping material
- Supports development and provides piping input to P&IDs, equipment datasheets, civil and structural design.
- Review Vendors' quotations prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries
- Holds co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors as required
- Prepares and develops material take off for the piping discipline
- Assist in performing managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasks to engineers; planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work; preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets; attending project meetings; and developing lesser-experienced technical professionals
- Provide piping input to tenders and project estimates in the development of method statements, deliverable lists, manhours, CTRs and risk take
- Participates in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required
- Takes a leading role in plot plan and 3D model reviews for scopes under their area of responsibility
- Completion of site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for development of the site survey report
- Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the progress measurement system. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions

Experience:
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10 to 15 years of experience in piping engineering, including offshore and onshore projects.
- Expertise in greenfield and brownfield project execution, including FEED and detailed design.
- Proficiency in 3D design tools (E3D, PDMS, SP3D) and stress analysis.
- Strong knowledge of piping layout, piping materials, valves and associated codes/standards.
- Previous experience with North Oil Company or Maersk Projects will be considered an added advantage.

- 7 years' experience in wellwork operations in the oil and gas industry, including at least 5 years' experience in rigless wellwork operations, either offshore or onshore wells.
- Wellwork experience in high pressure, high temperature, and toxic gas wells in offshore environment.

- Manage and optimize inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables to avoid shortages or excess.

- Strong leadership and team management abilities with experience in supervising TRS crews.

- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex TRS operational challenges in real-time.
- Financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and P&L responsibility.
- Proficiency in TRS-related operational software and reporting systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and client relationship skills.
- Knowledge of HSSE regulations, API/ISO standards, and industry best practices for TRS operations.
- Strategic thinking and process improvement capabilities.
- Fluent in English.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; equivalent industry experience considered.
- Minimum 7 years of TRS operations experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- At least 2 years of P&L management experience within oilfield services.
- Proven track record in TRS job planning, execution, and post-job evaluation.
- Strong experience in customer engagement and business development within TRS services.

Wood are actively seeking Expressions of Interest for Lead Technical Safety Engineer role to support future growth in our expanding business.
The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.
This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lead Technical Safety Engineer will be responsible for:
- Provide integrity assurance of Process designs through appropriate application of Shell technical standards and specifications, implementation of DCAF and review of design deliverables and activities.
- Ensure schedule and cost considerations are included in design decisions, while maintaining primary responsibility to assure safe and appropriate quality designs.
- Ensure repeated delivery of projects with HSSE & SP risks demonstrably managed to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP), creating a workplace without harm.
- Ensure Technical HSE Engineering activities are executed in alignment with Shell's Project Delivery Roadmap and Opportunity Realization Process.
- Validate strategies/conceptual designs during early project phases.
- Support COMPANY in auditing construction field activities for compliance and assist in resolution of field non‐conformance issues as required.
- Ensure design meets requirements of Shell's HSSE Framework.
- Design and develop, as required, innovative technical approaches to the broader Technical HSE engineering issues and contribute to continuous business improvement initiatives (fit for purpose)
- Deliver integrated HSE risk management support (including hazard identification, major hazard assessment, developing HSE Cases and contributing to layout reviews, human factors and health risk assessments, ESH impact assessment, as part of the Hazards and Effects Management Process) across the full lifecycle of the projects.
- Identification and communication of HSSE best practices
- Provide (one stop shop) Technical HSE engineering support and delivery in accordance with the HSSE & SP Control Framework and associated standards, guidelines and relevant regulatory safety requirements for QPH projects.
- Accountability for technical HSE engineering deliverables and engineering execution planning support including provision of senior engineering expertise.
- Proactively working with the Engineering Manager to key Projects on track and achieve Top Quartile (TQ) performance for the portfolio.
- Drive and delivery of an ever‐increasing effectiveness and efficiency in producing project designs, through Elimination, Simplification, Standardisation and Automation balanced against the need for Top Quartile FEL in, and quality designs for the Qatar Project Delivery Hub projects.

Experience:
- BSc., University in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 15 years' experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas related Technical HSE Design and Engineering out of which minimum 5 years' experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas Project Delivery as an Umbrella Contract
- Lead Technical HSE engineer function in a multidiscipline Workforce.
- Performs as a professional Technical HSE engineer for projects and plant modifications from Front End
- Development through execution / commissioning and start‐up
- Fully conversant with quantitative risk and consequences simulation software such as PHAST risk, FRED (Must)
- Experience of working on Shell projects will be a distinct added advantage
- Good communication skills and report writing skills, experience of writing technical reports is essential
- Experience in the Middle East, knowledge of GTL , Gas Processing and Utilities are an advantage, as is frontend and commissioning experience and execution.
- Proven leadership skills and strong personal drive, to meet deadlines and specific targets.
