Wood is recruiting for a Senior Pipelines Engineer to join our team in Qatar. In this role you are collaborating with a team of designers and engineers, where you will have the opportunity to be hands-on in supporting the group's objectives across major FEED Project.

The Role

In this role, you will be responsible to supervise pipeline engineers and designers to translate the limited information from the Concept Selection Report and/or Basis for Design to Basis for Design and/or Front End Design & project specifications as well as Detailed Design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and supervise a team of relevant discipline engineers and designers
  • Responsible for providing expertise and ensures the application of correct standards in all preFEED/FEED / EPC deliverables in the design and development of projects associated with Oil and Gas processing, production and export, as well as carbon capture processing, transportation and storage.
  • Supervise the work of relevant discipline Engineers and Superintendents and ensure that quality and standards are maintained, and cost-effective solutions are adopted
  • Fully understands the COMPANY HSE policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility
  • Ensures that work under his/her control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner
  • Review any design work carried out by third parties (vendors) and participate, HAZOP, HAZID, IPF, reliability studies, and Safety and Facilities Technical Audits
  • Establish the actual (as opposed to design) capacities / capabilities of existing field facilities and pipelines to identify potential bottlenecks and scope for optimization
  • Identify potential applications for new technology
  • Develop actively the local staff to fulfill engineers and role
  • Know the environmental aspects (ISO14001) of oil and gas projects design
  • Know the safety aspects of design in relation to the project cycle (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, HAZAN, IPF classification methodology and implementation, QRA, reliability studies, Fire and Gas mapping and risk analysis techniques)
  • Conduct life cycle cost analysis
  • Prepare RFQ (request for quotation) technical packages for pipelines related scopes
  • Prepare engineering, construction and material estimation, schedule, resource planning and update resource capacity planning half-yearly
  • Provide first class engineering in one or more of the following fields; risers, subsea pipelines, landfalls, subsea manifolds, piping design and onshore / subsea pipeline.
  • Be familiar with working with construction engineers and installation schemes.

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering from an accredited university

Typical responsibilities
  • Produces and reviews piping deliverables with little input or guidance from the Lead Engineer, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the scope of work prior to issue. Such deliverables may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Piping design basis, piping material specifications, piping line list, interface schedule, valve list, special items list, support schedule, wall thickness calculations, sizing calculations, stress analysis report, etc.
  • Preparation and development of enquiry packages including Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotation and Technical Bid Evaluation relating to piping materials.
  • Provide direction and guidance to designers in production of the 3D model and piping drawings such as plot plans, line shoots, general arrangement drawings, isometrics, tie-in details, etc.
  • Develop specification and prepare material requisitions for piping material
  • Supports development and provides piping input to P&IDs, equipment datasheets, civil and structural design.
  • Review Vendors' quotations prepare technical quotation evaluation and recommend the final technically acceptable Vendor, in conjunction with Materials Management Department commercial quotation evaluation. Technically approve Order Variation Summaries
  • Holds co-ordination meetings and engineering review meetings with Vendors as required
  • Prepares and develops material take off for the piping discipline
  • Assist in performing managerial tasks as requested, such as assigning tasks to engineers; planning and coordinating portions of the engineering work; preparing scopes, schedules, and budgets; attending project meetings; and developing lesser-experienced technical professionals
  • Provide piping input to tenders and project estimates in the development of method statements, deliverable lists, manhours, CTRs and risk take
  • Participates in project reviews, design reviews, audits and other workshops as required
  • Takes a leading role in plot plan and 3D model reviews for scopes under their area of responsibility
  • Completion of site surveys and data gathering for brownfield scope of work, taking responsibility for development of the site survey report
  • Assess progress and procedure associated reports and input to the progress measurement system. Derive and suggest plans to recover slippage, correct inefficiency and to take any resulting agreed actions

  • Provide (one stop shop) Technical HSE engineering support and delivery in accordance with the HSSE & SP Control Framework and associated standards, guidelines and relevant regulatory safety requirements for QPH projects.

    • Develop Upstream Integrated Gas Volume and Activities plan (UGP/IAP), review gas production, water injection plans and surveillance ensuring uninterrupted feed-gas delivery from wells and reservoirs to LNG trains.     Key Job Accountabilities - I

    • Coordinate Integrated Activity and Gas Volume Plans as per UGP process cycles and sequences and align with stakeholders all well test and injection programs in coordination with operations Department. Monitor rig based well testing, measurement and sampling.
    • Support Reservoir Engineers to develop production guidelines to optimize gas and condensate from QatarEnergy LNG wells and review non-routine or unplanned events requiring the management of special parameters (H2S/Water/Condensate/Casing Pressure).
    • Develop contingency plans to address unforeseen production shortages and downtime and ensure production availability from offshore in advance to satisfy the LNG requirements and mitigate the short falls in short term basis.
    • Review the analysis of all production data and parameters at offshore and onshore facilities, and ensure the use of standards, in-house application tools as well as real time information management tools (POIS).
    • Develop Well Performance and System Network Performance models update and optimize performance as per the operating boundaries set by QatarEnergy LNG standards and confirm accuracy of the measurement and metering electronics and transmitters.

    • Analyse onshore wastewater injection wells for uninterrupted water injection and implement injection guidelines and quality requirements on a continual basis. Elevate any abnormal findings to Section Head.
    • Propose stimulation strategy for QatarEnergy LNG wells and support implementation of the same and c oordinate testing and cleanup of wells post stimulation and any change management actions. Review well testing reports for new wells and re-completions.
    • Assess stimulation effectiveness using rig based flow back or PLT data, recommend improvement and optimization. Analyse well performance of producing wells post stimulation and recommend remedial action such as re-stimulations to enhance productivity.
    • Review input and determine production performance for Well, Platform, Asset for development and re-development projects and complete WIS and WEP development for re-completions and development wells with stimulation and well clean up input.
    • Perform well production volume back allocation based on well test and reservoir engineering inputs and Production Logging (PL) interpretation. Contribute monthly and annual reconciliations at all fiscal meter levels.


    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent.


    Knowledge and/or Experience - I

    • 6 years' experience in Production Operations, Production Planning, Optimization in the Oil and/or Gas industry, including at least 2 years' experience in production technology, Petroleum engineering applications and tools for production optimization, stimulation, PLT and forecasting.

Prepare detailed/integrated development plans for underdeveloped hydrocarbon resources and participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.
    Principal Accountabilities
    1. Lead the construction, and model history match to assess CO2 WAG EOR performance.
    2. Help develop and deliver optimized mid / long term strategic and tactical plans for the Operated Onshore field Assets.
    3. Perform the annual review of reserves, generate long-term production/injection forecasts for Asset Planning, Business Planning and drilling/workover schedule.
    4. Plan and supervise the acquisition (and perform analysis/interpretation) of Reservoir Engineering data from new and replacement wells for updating dynamic reservoir simulation models and determining optimum development plans and drilling targets. Ensure all data and analysis is input into integrated reservoir/field development studies.
    5. Maintain, develop and run 3D multiphase black oil / compositional dynamic reservoir models for mathematical simulation of reservoirs and field development planning.
    6. Develop / contribute and integrate Reservoir Engineering inputs into the short term (drill/replacement well projects, workover projects & drilling/workover operations), medium term (reservoir voidage management) and long term (field development and asset value optimisation) activities.
    7. Identify target reservoirs/reservoir layers and determine well-reservoir contacts for new/replacement vertical/deviated/horizontal drill projects into multi-layered heterogeneous reservoirs to optimize field development.
    8. Prepare detailed, integrated development plans for undeveloped hydrocarbon resources.
    9. Provide input to existing reservoir exploitation with regard to implementation of longer term reservoir management plans. Ensure surveillance programs are efficient and effective. Advising on reservoir management policies and well production limitations.
    10. Lead reservoir performance surveillance review sessions with multi-discipline teams.
    11. Coordinate and follow up the execution of reservoir-wide pressure transient analysis surveys.
    12. QA/QC Reservoir Engineering data and maintain Reservoir Engineering databases including real time data links.
    13. Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring of Qatari staff.
    14. Share and leverage knowledge and skills across Operated Onshore Field subsurface teams.

    • Within guidelines set by The Head, the position is answerable for his/her actions, and for the consequences of them. The incumbent is expected to be capable of working independently with only periodic monitoring and guidance.

    Experience
    • Prefer work experience of at least 15 years as a Reservoir Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry with demonstrated Reservoir studies/performance optimization expertise in mature large oil and gas fields.
    • Experience working on mature oil fields under waterflood.
    • Experience in development plan maturation for undeveloped hydrocarbon resources
    • Experience in transient well test interpretation, material balance modelling and performance prediction.
    • Experience in numerical reservoir simulation (black oil and compositional), history matching and field development plans.
    • Experienced in EOR techniques and modelling, ideally on operating assets, in particular CO2 WAG development.
    • Experienced in infill drilling and workover planning with a strong understanding and experience of surveillance and performance optimization, gained in carbonate oil and gas reservoirs.
    • Must have excellent teamwork and communication skills. Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff and management. Must be able to work effectively across organizational boundaries.
    • Must be familiar with reserves evaluation, classification and booking methodologies using PRMS.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
    • Skillful in managing reservoir studies project with a sound ability to manage time, make quality decisions, manage and measure work.
      Desirable
      • Experience in reservoir fluid sampling, fluid property modelling, RCAL / SCAL studies.
      • Desirable to have knowledge of uncertainty analysis and risk assessment/management.
      • Experience in carbonate reservoirs.
      • Significant experience in an operating company.

    Responsibilities
    • Develops working drawings, within company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support completion of engineering deliverables.
    • Creates drawings involving plans, layouts, calculations and bills of material
    • Works on assignments involving a variety of design procedures and techniques
    • Records observations, performs calculations and prepares reports on assignments
    • Performs layouts, design and checking work from the basic data supplied
    • Designs and makes detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and the application of fundamental engineering principles
    • Establishes project drafting standards and monitors their conformance
    • Identifies cost effective solutions to design problems
    • Assists in the preparation of bid evaluations
    • Designs and constructs models, prototypes, processes or equipment; compiles and evaluates data, makes recommendations, prepares reports
    • Prepares estimates of time, quantities, materials and labour required for activities related to testing, installation, manufacture, design or construction.
    • Generates bill of materials from finished designs
    • At more experienced levels, may act as coordinator on small projects, prepares specifications for complex equipment, processes, etc.
    • Ensures quality in design, technical accuracy in the preparation of drawings, material quantities, etc including reviewing others work at more senior levels.
    • Plans assigned work effectively and obtains/provides information liaising with the project team and line manager, in time to control man-hours and achieve targets
    • Carries out site visits / surveys and provides inputs to site visit reports.
