About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Lead Electrical Engineer - Reliability to join a leading petrochemical operation. In this role, you'll take the technical lead in ensuring the ongoing reliability and performance of all major electrical assets across the plant. Key Responsibilities

Reliability Engineering

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive reliability management system for electrical assets
  • Monitor asset performance and manage programs to improve uptime, availability, and lifecycle performance
  • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and performance reviews to address recurring issues
  • Evaluate new technologies, assess obsolescence risks, and recommend upgrades

Key Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Experience:

Technical Competencies:

This is a high-impact, strategic role offering full leadership over day-to-day operations, optimisation initiatives, and technical excellence across the plant.

In this role, you will act as second-in-command to the Plant Manager and take over management responsibilities in their absence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic production plans
  • Drive long-term operations and maintenance strategies to meet business objectives

Production Oversight

  • Lead and coordinate daily Chlorine plant operations
  • Set and optimise production parameters for safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Liaise with maintenance teams for troubleshooting and equipment performance

Technical Leadership

  • Lead critical operating procedures including plant startup, shutdown, and commissioning
  • Provide technical analysis and insights for plant turnaround planning
  • Guide operating teams on process adjustments and efficiency improvement

Performance & Improvement

  • Track KPIs and performance data to identify gaps and drive improvements
  • Lead cost optimisation and ensure alignment with production targets
  • Review incident reports and identify root causes for operational continuity

Team Management

  • Mentor and develop team capabilities through structured training programmes
  • Support performance reviews and encourage a culture of continuous development

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure plant operations align with industry standards and internal policies
  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Minimum of 9 years' experience in a petrochemical or chlor-alkali process environment
  • Strong technical understanding of Chlorine and related chemical processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in a complex plant environment
  • Skilled in root cause analysis, process optimisation, and shutdown coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong commitment to HSE principles and safe working practices
