HVAC Engineer-Duties and Responsibilities

Review project scope and technical specifications for equipment replacement, ensuring

compliance with design and standards.

Conduct detailed site inspections to assess existing HVAC systems and identify

replacement requirements.

Prepare method statements, work schedules, for planned replacement activities.

Evaluate and select suitable replacement equipment (chillers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs,

etc.) based on performance, efficiency, and compatibility.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors for approvals, shutdowns,

and smooth execution.

Supervise dismantling and safe removal of old equipment and oversee proper

installation of new units.

Ensure correct mechanical, electrical, and control connections during installation and

verify system integrity.

Monitor testing and commissioning activities to confirm operational performance as per

manufacturer specifications.

Enforce safety and quality control procedures throughout all phases of replacement

works.

Maintain accurate documentation and reports, including inspection records,

commissioning data, and as-built drawings.

• Receives and reviews incoming work requests for functioning and maintenance, Processes the work requests after filling in the required materials, man-hours, and skill levels. Allocates work to subordinates and contractors, checks progress providing instructions and advice as necessary and ensures that works are completed confirming to established work standards and statutory requirements.
• Participates in the complex installation, maintenance & testing of a wide range of equipment/systems listed below.
• Provides technical advice to his subordinates and ensures the proper use of tools and test equipment. Carries out function tests on the repairs carried out prior to reinstating the systems.
• Plans & carries out routine and preventive maintenance. Troubleshoots and analyses the root cause to avoid recurrence of the problem and to provide a permanent solution.
• Ensures plant availability and reliability are maintained as per the requirements. Inspects the work of subordinate staff, carries out related on-site work, resolves problems during work, trains subordinates in safe practices and guidelines.

ACTIVITIES

• Ensure and promote the application of COMPANY HSE and Safety Engineering rules and specifications. Ensure that contractors comply at all times with safety rules, taking actions as required in case of disregards.
• Promote safety culture within COMPANY personnel and contractors as well as reporting of anomalies.
• Prepare / review the HVAC engineering documents, which includes but not limited to:
• Conversant with P&IDs, should be able to identify HVAC sub-systems
• Interpreting SLDs, interconnection diagrams and control schematics.
• Conversant with HVAC Flow Diagram, should be able to reconcile air flow rates with HVAC cooling capacity calculation
• Conversant with room internal over-pressure concept
• Familiar with various HVAC systems, i.e. ACCU, SWCCU, water chillers, etc.

• Review & Comment Vendors deliverables, interpret facilities engineering drawings, designs and make necessary recommendations.
• Follow-up Purchase Orders of HVAC equipment to ensure timely approval, conformity of design & participates in technical reviews and FAT with Vendors.
• Plan and conduct KOM with contractors, JRA/work permits meetings in relation with Brownfield projects.
