Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Drainage Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to Lead senior, mid-level, junior engineers & Digital staff for timely and efficient production of quality designs.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide technical guidance to Engineers and Designer.
- Provide supervision of design plan and profiles production for entire projects of small scale.
- Lead development in production of more complex plans.
- Review plans and profiles for technical compliance with design objectives and clarity for construction
- Develop simple workflows / Templates to enable efficient repetition of design
- Apply advanced engineering principles to complex analytical models
- Check design deliverables from equal or less experienced Engineers
- Develop the baseline design schedule for a small team at the start of each task
- Track progress of task assignments vs original baseline schedule.
- Contribute as a productive and efficient team member to meet project deadlines
- Primary interface with client on all matters relating to work assignments for one engineering discipline.
- Mentor staff on technical aspects including the potential to conduct on-site training of personnel.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master Degree or higher preferred) in Civil Engineering
- 10+ years related drainage design experience.
- Professional Engineer registration required (PE, Peng or CEng).
- Thorough knowledge of current technology in order to be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on the project. Ability to mentor staff on engineering software applications and processes
- Determines methods and solutions to be used for complex engineering problems and selecting the most efficient an economical manner to meet objectives. Capable of applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a single engineering discipline. Familiarity with industry practices, codes and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with client, management, and project personnel on technical and non-technical subjects.
- Proficient in all software and able to act as mentor to staff developing skills.
- Proficient in commonly used complex engineering software and understands how engineering principles are applied in the software.
- Understands QA/QC standard practices and procedures and guides staff
- Proficient in non-standard detailing.
- Develop complex sketches and detailing for plans.
- Draft special provisions for specialty elements with reduced oversight.
- Good understanding of preparation of design reports.
