Job Description
Apt Resources is seeking a highly qualified Senior Legal Counsel to join the legal team at one of our esteemed clients. This pivotal position requires an individual with extensive legal experience in corporate law, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert legal guidance to support the organization’s strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support to various departments, including corporate governance, compliance, and commercial transactions.
- Lead the implementation of new compliance protocols and guidelines across the organization. Monitor their effectiveness and suggest improvements to ensure continuous adherence to legal standards.
- Lead regular audits of organizational practices against compliance standards and legal requirements. Identify risk areas and develop mitigation strategies to prevent legal disputes and enhance compliance.
- Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to protect the organization’s interests.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Manage and resolve legal disputes, working closely with external counsel when necessary.
- Support corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on legal and compliance matters.
- Stay updated on changes to relevant laws and regulations that may impact the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or a similar discipline from a reputable university.
- 12 years of experience in similar roles in large companies, of which at least 5 years are in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities, demonstrating a strong need for effective leadership skills.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking ability with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Solid leadership and people management skills.
- Established understanding of power / energy and water sectors, emerging trends, technologies and key players.
- A demonstrable track record of working at the highest standards and delivering outstanding results, including managing change and delivering on growth strategies.
- Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (significant plus).
- Excellent relationship-building skills.
- Extensive skills in leading teams from a multi-cultural background.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work with key stakeholders, senior executives, management team and external partners / advisors through collaboration & teamwork in a non-hierarchical relationship framework.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.

A leading energy and water utility in Qatar is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to provide timely and strategic legal support to the organisation and its affiliated Joint Ventures (JVs) and Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Key Responsibilities
Legal Advice & Compliance
Deliver high-quality legal analysis to ensure company-wide adherence to legal and regulatory obligations
Lead compliance initiatives and audits, offering strategic guidance on implementation and risk mitigation
Keep the business informed of legislative changes and regulatory updates
Contract Management
Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and corporate agreements
Ensure contract terms meet internal policies, legal standards, and strategic objectives
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align documentation with evolving business needs
Litigation & External Counsel Liaison
Oversee litigation documentation and coordinate with external legal advisors
Manage dispute resolution and ensure internal alignment with legal strategy
Lead legal workstreams and projects as directed by the General Counsel
Strategic Leadership & Planning
Contribute to departmental strategy in alignment with corporate goals
Support legal input in corporate planning and decision-making processes
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership across legal and regulatory matters

Candidate Profile
Education:

Experience:

Languages:
Fluent in English (required)
