Key Responsibilities
Legal Advice & Compliance

  • Deliver high-quality legal analysis to ensure company-wide adherence to legal and regulatory obligations

  • Lead compliance initiatives and audits, offering strategic guidance on implementation and risk mitigation

  • Keep the business informed of legislative changes and regulatory updates

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and corporate agreements

  • Ensure contract terms meet internal policies, legal standards, and strategic objectives

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align documentation with evolving business needs

Litigation & External Counsel Liaison

  • Oversee litigation documentation and coordinate with external legal advisors

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Contribute to departmental strategy in alignment with corporate goals

Candidate Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or Business from a recognised institution (MBA preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years' experience in corporate legal roles, with at least 5 years in managerial leadership

  • Experience within the power, water, or energy sectors is highly preferred

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (required)

  • Proficiency in Arabic (advantageous)

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate various types of agreements including commercial contracts, MOUs, NDAs, CSAs, leases, licensing agreements, vendor agreements, and partnership agreements.

  • Ensure that all contracts are legally sound, aligned with the company’s business objectives, and compliant with relevant laws and internal frameworks.

  • Draft, update, and maintain internal legal templates for use with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide legal advice and support to the CLO, management, and internal stakeholders on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.

  • Support in mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, contract drafting, negotiation, and post-transaction integration.

  • Represent the company in legal matters including claims, litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes.

Experience

  • Licensed to practice law in Qatar or another recognized jurisdiction.

  • 6–8 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house counsel roles.

  • Strong expertise in commercial law, contract negotiation, corporate governance, and dispute resolution.

  • Proven experience in managing strategic legal matters and external counsel relationships.

  • Excellent legal drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.

  • Fluency in English & Arabic.


Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB)

  • Master of Laws (LLM) is preferred

The position is geared towards individuals who specialise in Ship Finance, having worked (either currently or previously) at an international law firm. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be part of a team of six high calibre lawyers reporting directly to the General Counsel.

Some of your duties will include:
